Questions
01) How much does a class cost?
Each class is $90, plus the class textbook, which can typically be found for $20-$40. There is also a one-time $20 fee to join the OSOM program.
02) Do I have to take OSOM classes to be credentialed?
No, OSOM is not the only way to meet the educational requirements to become credentialed with the AG. Please contact us to see if your transcripts are eligible.
03) How long are the classes?
Attending class is required to receive credit for the course you may be taking, and is roughly 4 hours long.
04) How much homework is there?
Each class has a textbook to read, and a study guide to fill out based on the text. The average study guide is about 50 questions.
05) Do I need a computer to take classes?
While a computer is not required, you will need some kind of mobile device or tablet with internet access to upload your study guide, and take the test at the end of the class.
06) Where are the classes held?
All classes will be held at different locations throughout the State of Oregon as we grow our network of OSOM Affiliated Churches. Choose the one closest to you!
If there is not a convenient location near you to attend class, you can always join a cohort that meets on Zoom as well.
07) How can my Church become an OSOM Affiliated Church or Regional Hub?
Please contact our OSOM Director, Yancey Valdez at [email protected] for more information.
08) What denomination are you and what do you believe about the Bible?
The Oregon School of Ministry runs under the covering of the Oregon Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God. We hold to a Pentecostal tradition with a very high view of Scripture, along with the priority of helping students lay the foundation they need for a Bible-based, Christ-centered and Spirit-empowered ministry!
For a helpful list of our beliefs about Jesus, Scripture, and other important theological topics please visit: AG 16 Fundamental Truths.
09) How long does it take to complete a credential level?
Classes happen once a month. There are 10 classes in each level (Certified, Licensed, and Ordained). Each credential level also has a Ministry Practicum component. Most students can finish an entire level in 10-12 months.
10) What happens when I FINISH?
Finishing classes is a BIG accomplishment! If you wish to pursue credentials with the Assemblies of God you will need to go through the formal application process. OSOM provides the educational requirements for credentialing, but does not guarantee approval of your credentials.
Application processes such as examination, background check, prior divorce, baptism in the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, and presbytery interview are all important parts of the application process.
